This month we celebrate the fabulous and very talented Donna Duke-Llande, owner and operator of Little seasons Photography. Waffle+Co have loved using Little Seasons, to not only capture our key events, but our latest shots for our horsebox promotion. Here we open up our news blog to Donna to give her take on her incredible photography company and the journey Little Seasons has started. Donna, it’s always a pleasure working with you and thank you for supporting W+Co.

I feel really privileged to have been asked by Ana and Tori to tell you a bit about myself and my photography business Little Seasons Photography.
Actually, I owe a lot to Ana and Tori for being here right now, because without them I’m not sure I would have had the courage to have pursued this passion of mine with such vigour.
I met both of them at one of their very first events – ‘Mums That Waffle’ and it’s almost like the penny just dropped! While I’m not a whizz in the kitchen, I could see how they both brought their passions to life and fulfilled that need to not only be mums, but to find their place as individuals again – something I had definitely lost since the birth of my first child in 2013; and I wanted a piece of that…(minus the cooking!)
For me photography has always been part of my life. I am a memory preserver of the worst kind. During my pregnancy with my firstborn I bought my very first DSLR camera. Of course I knew absolutely nothing about cameras and it took me a few years to really get the hang of it. But, by the time my daughter was born; three and a half years later, I had taught myself the basics required to capture images on a professional camera, and from that point onwards I’ve been constantly working on really achieving the best I can in a variety of situations learning everything possible.
Emotions and connections make me excited when it comes to photography. My role as a mother has me wanting to capture those smaller moments that perhaps wouldn’t be noticed by the generic camera phone snap. The way a child looks at a parent, or the subtle connection as their eyes meet. I’m more than happy to help create authentic emotions to get the best out of a photography session, because let’s be honest it can be hard to reveal everything to a photographer! I once played a couples wedding song on my phone and made them dance around a blossom tree to capture the most beautiful maternity pictures. The awkwardness level was high – which actually was just perfect, because the authentic laughter and smiles photographed beautifully. Those pictures will always make me smile.
My favourite type of photography has to be fine art. I love creating scenes that tell stories and then editing images in almost a painterly fashion, which can take hours per picture to achieve a result I’m happy with. The beauty of photography is that I’m constantly learning. So I’m so excited to be training with one of the top fine art portrait artists, Iwona Podlasinka later this month.
In terms of what I offer, I’m currently very flexible. I’ve just taken Ana and Tori’s latest Waffle+Co promotional images, which was so much fun. It’s been amazing watching their journey and being asked to help out by developing their look and feel and creating this with them. I’ve also just finished my first wedding which was at Trinity Hall in Cambridge. I’ve got lots of lovely Autumn sessions coming up this month and next month too- including shots Ana’s family. I honestly feel so privileged that people trust me to take images of their families that’ll last a lifetime!
Why not follow them, make a purchase and above all support what they do!
Don’t just take our word for it, check our this amazing company for yourselves, and please please use them! Without your support, local businesses like ours cannot survive against the big players and large scale operations. Now more than ever, it is vital we pull together and make our purchase decisions count and go further.
